Parliamentum

James Bowden’s site, Parliamentum is a splendid site. A very welcome addition to Canadian thinking on legal and constitutional matters. I am enjoying the current discussion on Canadian independence.

I’m going to publish an entry soon on the Statute of Westminster, the formal creation of the Crown of Canada, and Canada’s independence from the United Kingdom; the post will make use of some primary documents contained in the Appendices of the Manual of Official Procedure of the Government of Canada. I think that you’ll find it quite interesting! I’m also investigating an Order-in-Council from 29 December 2004 in which the Martin government removed some obscure vestigial powers from the Queen and placed them in the Governor General.
